Homeschool 501c3 is Helping Houston
Help for Houston & Homeschool Families
Homeschool Curriculum Free for Shipping is a 501C3 organization that is collecting funds used (but in good shape) and unused or extra books and curriculum to help replace what home education materials may have been lost in the flooding and damage.
Homeschool families affected by Hurricane Harvey can get help & you can help homeschoolers who have lost school supplies, books and curriculum.
Donate curriculum to support them and to help them replace what was lost so that they can get back on track with their home education plans.
From Founder Deana Hipwell:
An overwhelming number of you have begun to send curriculum and school supplies to those who have lost everything in Houston and areas affected by Hurricane Harvey. We’d like to let you know that we are glad to accept any donations at Homeschool Curriculum Free for Shipping, and pass them along to the families who need them in the coming months.
What to Send
- Curriculum in NEW or LIKE NEW condition (current editions please)
- NEW, unopened school supplies
- Cash Donations to pay costs of shipping the items to those in need
The Plan
Over the next month they will collect items and cash donations. Mail donations to Homeschool Curriculum Free for Shipping Headquarters, P.O. Box 783, Clemmons, NC 27012.
Donations of items will not be sent out until the families are settled back in and homeschooling.
Items can even be picked up at locations in Winston Salem, Clemmons, and Holly Springs – other area drop-offs in North Carolina and other sates are being organized currently.
Contact Deana by EMAIL to co-ordinate a meet-up for your area, or to drop off your items.
Your tax deductible cash donations can be made directly to the organization at the website HERE and the full amount of your donation goes to help the hurricane victims get replacements for their lost and damaged curricula.
GoFund Me Account
A GoFundMe account is being set up but will be unavailable until after September 2nd. After September 2nd, donations can be made to that fund.
As of September 15, 2017, families affected by this disaster will be able to complete a simple online application stating specifically what they need and items that are already available will be shipped out.
Please help by donating towards shipping costs – if the organization doesn’t have enough funds to pay for the shipping costs, the families may have to pay for shipping.
If donations are received in excess of the costs of mailing items out, Homeschool Curriculum Free for Shipping will purchase new curriculum from their partner curriculum publishers who offer them a discount on new curriculum purchases, so your donations will all go toward replacing curriculum for home educators in need.
100% of all cash donations received by September 15, 2017 will go directly to Harvey victims.
Remember, your donations are tax-deductible and they can give you a receipt for the cash donations as well as for the value of your donated curriculum.
There are lots of details about this on their website, so to get the full details, visit them HERE.
