It is hard to believe the new school year is almost upon us again! This is the time of the year we do that last- minute- school- planning- thing (it’s gonna be ok!) and it is also the time of the year that I hear from (sometimes slightly panicked) parents who have questions – questions about how to decide on curricula, how to teach more than one child, how to find support groups, and sports teams for their kids!
Lots of home educators also want to know about classes and co-ops in their area. The Homeschool-ology website has curated listings of resources and groups from all over our state, so check out the other pages and links while you are here and let me know if you have found the site helpful.
I am always glad when I hear from teachers and tutors who are sharing their experience and offering excellent services to the homeschool community, because then, I can help you to connect with the people, groups, activities and books that you need to give your children an awesome education at home in North Carolina!
Today I am featuring Jen Caddell and the Young Explorers:
Explore Core Classes and Enrichment Activities
Explorers, young and old, will benefit from these online classes and “in person” field trips. The classes are live and interactive.
About the Teachers
Jen Caddell is a homeschooling mom and teacher/tutor who lives in the Charlotte, NC area. She holds a psychology degree from Wake Forest with an emphasis in learning theory and child development and has taught enrichment classes and offered private tutoring in the subjects of math, science and language arts for kids and teens for twelve years. Experienced high school teacher, Sarah Coleman, also teaches online classes at Young Explorers Enrichment. Fall classes will begin at the end of August, so now is the time to register.
The thirty-six week session begins Monday, August 29, 2016 and ends June 5, 2017. Students can attend classes live, from any computer, tablet, or phone. They offer a free trial class for new students! Classes available at Young Explorers include all levels of the “hands-on” math program Singapore Math, Physics, Literature, Geometry and an “American Girl” history study.
Students who take part in the online classes will also get to attend Friday Field Trips in North and South Carolina with their fellow online students.
See the full list of classes and costs, and register at their website.
And if your kids need something to keep them busy so you can organize your school calendar, check out the Young Explorers three-week summer drawing class – it begins this week.
I will be featuring other reviews and resources that can help your new school year go smoothly, so if you have not signed up to get my new online newsletter, click here, and don’t forget to follow me on Facebook. If you don’t, you might miss something, because I don’t always share everything in one place.
