Before air-conditioning, you know that North Carolinians had some rather innovative ways to survive summer’s sizzling southern heat: porch swings, iceboxes, soda fountains, swimming holes, and other cool comforts. In July the Museum of History will present two children’s programs that focus on ways folks used in the past to beat the heat.
